Dear friends,
It has been a while since our last newsletter, so this feels like a good moment to return to why the Legal Transformation Network exists in the first place.
Since 2019, our mission has been to accelerate change in the legal industry by sharing knowledge and creating a common language for transformation.
That common language matters especially now. As AI becomes embedded in legal work, new concepts ans terms are appearing almost as quickly as the technology itself: agents, memory, context, intelligence, AI-native organisations. Behind the terminology is a more fundamental question: how is legal work itself changing?
Our spring sessions explored that question from two very human perspectives. At Hannes Snellman, the discussion reminded us that AI transformation is not only technical but cultural — changing how we work, what organisations value and what role humans play. At Castrén & Snellman, the Thinking Lawyer session explored what happens to legal thinking as AI takes on more production work, and why human judgement and the ability to think about how we think become increasingly important.
As we move into the autumn, I believe another part of the emerging language deserves our attention: learning and context. How do legal organisations learn from the work they do? How does that learning become better context for the next matter, decision or client interaction? And what does this mean for the way we design legal organisations around people, data and AI? These are questions worth exploring together.
There will be several opportunities to continue the dialogue this autumn. Nordic Legal Tech Day takes place in Helsinki on 22 September and Stockholm on 7 October. In October, we will launch the Legal Tech & Legal Design in Finland 2026 Map. Later in the autumn, Dittmar & Indrenius will host a Legal Tech Glögit session on Strategy & AI, and on 3 December we will meet again in Tallinn in an event hosted by Sorainen, Crespect and Ilves.

Living Through the Cultural Shift of AI — hosted by Hannes Snellman
AI transformation is as much cultural as it is technological. It is changing the way people work, what organisations value, and the role humans play in legal work.
At the Legal Tech Glögit hosted by Hannes Snellman, we explored the human side of this shift and a question that is becoming increasingly important as AI becomes embedded in everyday legal work: not only “What can AI do?” but “Who do we want to be?”

The Thinking Lawyer — hosted by Castrén & Snellman
Traditional legal thinking alone is no longer enough. That was the hypothesis we explored at the 35th Legal Tech Glögit, hosted by Castrén & Snellman.
We looked at what kinds of thinking remain distinctly human, what AI can increasingly support, and how legal teams should understand the relationship between the two. As AI takes on more production work, the ability to identify where human judgement creates value becomes increasingly important.
